On Friday 26 November at 14:15, Aamod Dhoj Shrestha defends his PhD dissertation entitled "Community-based Intervention for Cervical Cancer Screening Uptake in Nepal (COBIN-C)".
Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer among women with an approximate 90% of deaths occurring in low- and middle-income countries. In Nepal, cervical cancer is the major cause of cancer deaths among women. According to the World Health Organization, 40% of new cervical cancer cases, and 5 million related deaths could be prevented with the successful implementation of vaccination, screening, and treatment of the disease by 2050. Mobilizing Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) who have successfully contributed to their communities in addressing various public health issues may be an effective intervention in increasing cervical cancer screening uptake in Nepal.
This dissertation assessed the effect of FCHV delivered intervention to increase cervical cancer screening uptake among Nepalese women.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in the Jeppe Vontilius Auditorium in the Lake Auditoriums, Aarhus University, (Building 1252, Room 3.10) Bartholins Allé 3, 8000 Aarhus C. Please read the attached press release for more information.
