On Monday 28 June at 14:00, Nanna Holt Jessen defends her PhD dissertation entitled "Exploring diagnostic opportunities to optimise the early detection of abdominal cancer in general practice".
Most patients with cancer begin their diagnostic journey in general practice. Therefore, it is important to provide general practitioners with good opportunities to detect cancer disease. Abdominal cancers comprise one third of all incident cancers, but several abdominal cancer types are difficult to diagnose. This PhD project explored the contacts to general practice and the number of nine different investigations that are used to detect 11 different abdominal cancers. Furthermore, associations between cancer suspicion in the general practitioner, referral to cancer patient pathways and the duration of the primary care interval were explored.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place in the Public Health Auditorium (room 101), building 1262, Aarhus University, Bartholins Allé 4, Aarhus C and online. Please read the attached press release for more information.
