Plastic surgeon to be new professor, department chair

Tine Engberg Damsgaard is consultant in plastic surgery and now also a new professor, department chair at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. This means she now has overall responsibility for research and education in plastic surgery at the university and in the Central Denmark Region.

As new clinical professor and chair at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Tine Engberg Damsgaard will head the development of scientific research in plastic surgery while at the same time having responsibility for the theoretical and practical education and training in plastic surgery as part of the medical degree programme. And she will also be responsible for the PhD programme in plastic surgery.

However, this does not mean Tine Engberg Damsgaard will no longer carry out her own research. On the contrary. In the new position, her research into breast reconstruction and delayed complications following cancer treatment will be strengthened, while new research areas will also be cultivated. For example, in the utilisation of surgical robots in plastic surgery operations, stem cells and 3D bioprint in a multidisciplinary collaboration. 

Tine Engberg Damsgaard took up her new position on 1 June 2018.
