Professor, Consultant and DMSc Jens Otto Lunde Jørgensen conducts research into the metabolic effect of growth hormone on sugar, fat and protein in the body, with special focus on pituitary disorders such as acromegaly and growth hormone deficiency. The research field comprises fat metabolism and insulin sensitivity and is therefore also of significance for other diseases such as type 2 diabetes.
The Grant for Growth Innovation award is funded by Merck and is given to innovative research in the field of growth disorders. The grant will be used in a research project that will provide more knowledge about growth hormone and fat metabolism through studies in cells, mice and patients. The project is being carried out in collaboration with a research group from Ohio University in the USA.
