Advice and services in connection with international recruitment

AU offers advice and services to the departments, schools and centres to help them attract and retain international employees.

To ensure that AU can hold its own in the national and international competition to recruit the brightest minds, recruiting international academic staff is essential. The ability to attract and retain talented researchers from abroad requires strong research and teaching programmes and good relationships. But successful international recruitment also requires that international researchers and their families can see themselves living a good life in Denmark, and that they settle in after the move. Jobs for accompanying partners are often an important parameter both in relation to recruiting researchers and ensuring that they remain here.

Advice and services

The International Academic Staff Services (IAS) Mobility Team provides support for this important area in the form of advice and services for departments, schools and centres. These services are aimed at ensuring that applicants view AU as an attractive place of employment.

In connection with recruitment, a wide variety of services are available to departments, schools and centres. The International Recruitment Toolbox  provides an overview of the services and support available in connection with international recruitment. Services include funding for start packages for payroll and equipment, career guidance for accompanying spouses, finding housing, school registration for children, and assistance in locating clubs and associations which match the family’s interests.

Balancing mutual expectations

The toolbox also contains information on the Relocation Service, researcher taxation, Danish courses, child benefit and so on. The staff of the Mobility Team are also happy to participate in meetings with potential applicants (researchers and their partners) to assist in balancing mutual expectations about non-research-related aspects of life in Denmark.
