The money will be used to examine the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis.

Could it be that periodontitis is connected to rheumatoid arthritis? This is what the Section of Periodontology led by Rodrigo Lopez will investigate in a new national research project which is being realised with the help of a grant from the Danish Rheumatism Association.

The study will also shed light on whether the cost of dental treatment is higher for patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis compared to patients who do not have rheumatoid arthritis.

In the long term, this research could provide the basis for better planning of dental care for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
