This year's recipient of the PhD Supervisor Award, professor of public health Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen, is a role model for her PhD students.

According to a small excerpt of the nomination, she not only has an impressive career of her own, but is also an ambitious and committed supervisor. Professor Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen is the principal supervisor for six PhD students and co-supervisor for a handful more, plus all the PhD students and research year students that she has helped on their (career) paths over the years. The students describe her as a supervisor who is genuinely interested in her PhD students and has an exceptional ability to spot each individual's particular strengths. Special mention is made of her being a source of inspiration for pursuing a research career while simultaneously balancing a family life.

The PhD students at Health recommend candidates for the supervisor of the year award, which is also called the JCD prize after Professor Jens Christian Djurhuus.

The award was made at Health's diploma ceremony for PhD graduates and new higher doctoral degree candidates, which took place on 31 May 2017. The award includes a DKK 25,000 cash prize.
