Friday 20 November at 15:00, Sissel Ravn defends her PhD dissertation entitled "Peritoneal metastases among Danish patients with colorectal cancer: Aspects of risk and patient-centred care".
Patients with limited peritoneal metastases can be offered intended curative treatment in form of extensive surgery with hyperthermic chemotherapy. The diagnosis of peritoneal metastases at a limited stage is challenging, and therefore identification of patients at a high risk of peritoneal metastases is important.
It has been described, that patients undergoing intended curative surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy can experience decreased health-related quality of life and late complications, while aspects of patient-centrered care following intended curative surgery for peritoneal metastases has been described sparsely. The studies investigastes the oppourtunity and effect of patient-centred care accomplished by including the patient's perspective in the follow-up program after surgery.
The summary is written by the PhD student.
The defence is public and takes place online via Zoom. Please read the attached press release for more information.
