Researchers from Aarhus University have discovered that patients with the RBD sleep behaviour disorder lack dopamine and have a form of inflammation of the brain. This means that they are at risk of developing Parkinson's disease or dementia when they grow older.

Simon Glerup (pictured), together with Camilla Gustafsen and Peder Madsen, has founded the company Draupnir Bio which has received DKK 2.5 million from The Novo Nordisk Foundation. The grant will be used to develop innovative cholesterol lowering medicine.

Ole Bækgaard is the new head of the Department of Public Health

The iPSYCH2012 case-cohort sample: new directions for unravelling genetic and environmental architectures of severe mental disorders

The iPSYCH consortium has established a large Danish population-based Case-Cohort sample (iPSYCH2012) aimed at unravelling the genetic and environmental architecture of severe mental disorders. The iPSYCH2012 sample is nested within the entire Danish population born between 1981 and 2005, including 1.472.762 persons.

Differential DNA methylation at birth associated with mental disorder in individuals with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome

Individuals with 22q11.2 deletion have an increased risk of mental illness, with a large variation in the development and progression of ADHD, depression and schizophrenia. We investigated whether neonatal DNA methylation signatures in individuals with 22q11.2 deletion associate with mental illness later in life.
